April 15th 2024 – The Week According 2 Hip Hop
THE WEEK
ACCORDING 2 HIP HOP

Family and Friends. What a time to be alive. This week's edition of The Week According 2 Hip Hop starts only where it could by highlighting one of the biggest lyrical feuds of this generation of Hip Hop. On Saturday, Drake unveiled his long-awaited diss track against Kendrick Lamar and others with ‘Push Ups’. The track set the internet ablaze and prompted a response from former friend and frequent collaborator, Rick Ross, who stepped into the arena against Drizzy with a targeted diss of his own. In what seemed to be ancient news on Friday, Future, and Metro Boomin released their follow-up album “We Still Don’t Trust You” which picks up right where they left off featuring a few surprise turns with a J. Cole feature and yet another diss aimed at Drake via none other than ASAP Rocky.
In somber news, Hip Hop and Atlanta music pioneer, Rico Wade suddenly passed away. Wade, a member of Organized Noize laid the music framework of a generation and cultivated the sound that Outkast, Goodie Mob, and other Dungeon Family members leveraged to put Atlanta and southern Hip Hop on the global map.
Also as we do each week we've curated a fresh Spotify playlist to capture the Hip Hop that is resonating with us as we go into another week.
And with the end of March Madness, we are jumping into the tournament fray by presenting our Hip Hop’s Greatest Producer tournament highlighting 64 of the culture’s greatest musical masterminds. Voting will be over the next few weeks, and the people will decide who is the Master of the Board.
This is the Week According 2 Hip Hop.

On Saturday Drake set the Hip Hop world ablaze with the supposed “leak” of his long-rumored diss record Push Ups (Drop and Give Me 50) aimed at Kendrick Lamar and a cadre of other rappers that have directly and indirectly dissed the 6 God in recent weeks.

REVIEW
Future and Metro Boomin Release New Album ‘We Still Don’t Trust You’
“We Still Don’t Trust You” is a project with lofty ambitions. While it largely hits its mark, the final reception from hip-hop audiences remains to be seen. However, two things are undeniable: Future continues his reign as the undisputed Trap Soul King and Metro Boomin remains a vital force shaping not just Future’s sound, but the sonic landscape of hip-hop itself.
Hours after the “leak” of Drake’s fiery track Push Ups (Drop Down and Give Me 50), a former friend and frequent collaborator Rick Ross jumped into the fray, firing targeted bars at Drake with “Champagne Moments”.
